The 1920s were a time when home refrigeration made recipes such as this Orange Gelatin Mold possible. Home cooks began molding their fruit into gelatin and a food revolution was born--dessert that didn't have to be baked! Or is it a salad?
This recipe is part of our Valentine's Day series. See more at the links below.

You can add other fruit, but there is a nice simplicity to the orange slices--sometimes less is more!
Ingredients
1 pack Royal Orange Gelatin
4 cups water
1 large orange, sliced
Preparation
Combine 2 cups of boiling water with gelatin mix, stir until completely dissolved.
Remove from heat.
Add 2 cups cold water.
Pour into mold.
Refrigerate for 2 hours.
After 2 hours, take the mold out of the refrigerator and gently press the orange slices into the mold. The gelatin will be slightly thickened and should hold the fruit in place.
Refrigerate for an additional 2 hours.
To remove from mold, loosen the edges of the gelatin from the mold with the tip of a knife, and dip mold to the rim in warm water for 10 seconds.
