Drunken Shrimp

Drunken shrimp just got a makeover. Not sure if you can call this drunken since I significantly cut down the wine, but the shrimp aren’t 100% sober either.

This Drunken Shrimp is a little less drunk than most recipes – I only use a one-quarter cup of white wine combined with clam juice and fresh lemon. The sauce is so flavorful – definitely serve some crusty bread on the side to soak it up! For some more Italian shrimp recipes, try my Shrimp Fra Diavolo and Shrimp Scampi with Broccoli Orzo.

Virgin Bloody Mary

Craving a Bloody Mary but doing a dry challenge? Make this Virgin Bloody Mary, also known as the Virgin Mary, and you won’t miss the vodka!

The Bloody Mary is one of the most popular brunch cocktails. This mocktail version is loaded with flavor – spicy, savory, and salty. It’s perfect if you want a cocktail without alcohol. Of course, if you want to add some vodka, go for it! For more drink recipes without alcohol, try my Nojito (a mojito without the rum) and Salpicón (a Colombian fruit drink).

Sauteed Collard Greens with Bacon

Thinly sliced collard greens sautéed with bacon, garlic, and olive oil is the perfect side dish for New Year’s Day.

Sauteed Collard Greens with Bacon

It’s tradition to eat collard greens on New Year’s Day because their green color symbolizes wealth and prosperity for the coming year. This easy collard greens recipe is absolutely my favorite way to eat them. If you are a vegetarian, just leave out the bacon. Another collard greens recipe I love is Kenyan Braised Collard Greens with Ground Beef, known as Sukuma Wiki.

7-Day Healthy Meal Plan

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! As we look to ring a new year in (and good riddance to 2020) I am always curious as to different family traditions done on NYE to bring luck for the upcoming year. What are some of yours? We like to eat black eyed peas and collard greens – which represent prosperity, luck and money (and both are in this weeks meal plan). It is also said that pork represents wealth. prosperity and progress and don’t forget some lentils for good luck too! I also like the Asian tradition of eating long noodles (representative of lengthening your life) but you have to eat the whole noodle long without breaking it! So here’s to 2021….cheers!!

Italian Shrimp Oreganata is an easy weeknight meal that cooks in under 12 minutes. Just toss the butterflied shrimp with white wine, salt, and red pepper and place them on a sheet pan topped with the breadcrumb mixture. Bake on a foil-lined sheet pan for about eight minutes and broil for two, so the breadcrumbs get nice and golden. If you make seafood during the Holidays, this dish would make a great addition to you holiday table!

then pop them in the oven when you’re ready to eat. Just be sure to let the lamb rest at room temp before roasting. For more lamb recipes, try my Grilled Rosemary Lamb Chops and Roasted Boneless Leg of Lamb.
