Shortbread is the perfect small bite that is not too sweet, yet satisfies the craving for something to go with coffee or tea. It's even better when it's got a hint of chocolate!

Instead of pressing raw dough into a pan, you can roll it out like sugar cookie dough and use cookie cutters. If so, reduce your baking time and check it at 20 minutes.
Ingredients
3 sticks unsalted butter
1 t. salt
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
1/2 t. baking powder
1 3/4 cups flour
Preparation
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Grease 9-inch pan.
Mix together butter, salt, sugar and cocoa.
Add egg, vanilla.
Add baking poser and flour.
Press into pan.
Bake for about 50 minutes.
Let cool for about 5 minutes, then turn over so square will fall onto parchment paper or waxed paper.
Cut into any shape desired and serve.
