Brownies will never be the same once you've tried them with the addition of black walnuts. These distinctive nuts add their own flavor to the mixture and will set your brownie bars apart at the annual holiday bake off!
Foodie Byte
Black walnuts are completely different from the traditional English walnuts. Because the black walnut is wild, its taste is more robust and out-of-the-ordinary than orchard-grown nuts. The rich, earthy flavor is derived from the roots of the tree, much in the way the flavor of wine comes from the minerals in the vineyard's soil.
Ingredients
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup flour
2 T. unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1 t. vanilla
1 cup black walnuts
Preparation
Mix all ingredients together and pour into greased square pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
