We get tired of a plain old burger, so APL thought we would spice it up and give you four all-new ways to approach this American fave. If you have been looking for the perfect vegan or vegetarian burger substitute then this burger is for you.

Foodie Byte
Ingredients
1 1/4 cup organic black beans, drained and rinsed- we buy Eden’s Select
2 tablespoons green onion, chopped
2 tablespoons organic cilantro, chopped
1 tablespoon jalapeno, chopped
1 egg, to bind (for vegan alternative use flax seed or egg replacement)
Preparation
Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl. It will take some rigorous mixing to mash the beans, so you may also use a food processor.
Form into two burger patties and cook in a skillet sprayed with coconut cooking oil over medium heat, roughly 3-minutes per side.
We serve this with our homemade chipotle mayo: 2 tablespoons organic mayo with 2 teaspoons chipotle powder. Since the black beans provide you with protein and carbs, we like to serve this over shredded lettuce and add some other fun toppings like pico de gallo, avocado, and chopped pineapple.
