The margarita includes ingredients that should stimulate the four primary tastes: sweet, sour, salty and bitter. This recipe achieves a nice balance of these tastes.
Why Try? This classic drink is especially refreshing on a hot day. Our recipe makes it not too sweet, not overly tart…but just right.
Foodie Byte
Fresh lime juice is a key ingredient for a memorable margarita. If you have access to Key limes, also known as Mexican limes, their juice is highly recommended. The higher acidity of Key limes will give your margarita more complex flavor.
Ingredients
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice (preferably Key/Mexican Limes)
1 ounce tequila
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt for rim
Lime wedge for garnish
1 ounce triple sec
1/2 ounce orange liqueur
Preparation
Rub lime wedge around the rim of a chilled margarita glass. Invert glass and press into a plate filled with 1/4’ of kosher salt. Set aside.
Pour lime juice, tequila, triple sec and orange liqueur into a shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain into glass with salted rim and garnish with lime wedge.
